(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The United National Party’s Special Convention will be held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo at 9.30 am today under the patronage of party leader and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Three proposals, including the nomination of UNP Deputy Leader and Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs Minister Sajith Premadasa as the United National Front’s presidential candidate Presidential candidate are to be ratified at the special convention.
The UNP Working Committee, at a meeting held recently, unanimously agreed to nominate UNP Deputy Leader Minister Premadasa as the Presidential Candidate of the UNP-led United National Front. At the convention today, his name will be unanimously approved.
According to the UNP constitution, the candidate nominated by the Working Committee had to be approved at a party convention.
All leaders of the constituent parties of the United National Front as well as invited party members from all electorates of the island will also attend the convention.
