(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –A Brazilian national has been sentenced to life in prison for possessing and smuggling 690 grams of cocaine to Sri Lanka.
The Brazilian national along with the stock of narcotics was arrested by the Customs officers at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake on 16 February 2018.
Afterwards the suspect has been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.
After a lengthy trial, the Negombo High Court yesterday convicted the suspect and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
