(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The country’s economy will be strengthened under Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) while giving priority to agriculture based economy, SLPP Presidential candidate Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said.
The SLPP will take measures to strengthen local entrepreneur and simultaneously attention will be given to attract foreign investments, he added.
He made these remarks while addressing an SLPP election rally in Matale town yesterday.
Rajapaksa said that after the forthcoming Presidential Election, a transparent working government, which is responsible for the people will be formed.
He claimed that the present government has failed to give the priority to national security and this situation has resulted in the recent April terror attack.
“Unlike this government we gave priority to national security. We wanted to create a secure situation in which there was no room for terrorism” he added.
Speaking on the content of the SLPP election manifesto, Rajapaksa said that they have planned a people-centered economic development mechanism. Under this, agriculture sector will also be given utmost priority and the farmer will be enforced with economically and technologically.
He added that farmers will be given fertilizer free of charge and agricultural loan amounts will be written off. The government should directly involve in agriculture so as to protect farmer.
