Politicians’ illegal wealth to be nationalised – Anura Kumara

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –National People’s Power (NPP)Presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Saturday said that the illegally amassed wealth of politicians and public officials holding high positions would be taken over to the State after two months’ grace period if he received the people’s mandate at the forthcoming Presidential Election.

Addressing a public rally in Embilipitiya on Saturday, Dissanayake said the above policy would be the first statement he would make immediately after the polls if he wins the election.

“The country cannot be moved forward when the rulers are cheating or wasting public money. For 71 years, you hoped in vain that such rulers would build the country.

We guarantee a rule that would put an end to these unscrupulous practices. The political stages of both SLPP Candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa and NDF Candidate Sajith Premadasa are filled with rogues. People cannot hope any of them to stop corruption. Only the National People’s Power has the potential to make a rule that gives punishment for rogues and prevents cheating public money,” he said.

He pledged to build a country with a strong and resilient economy within five years. He said the poverty would be eradicated following a well-planned economic strategy within five years. He added that the people could then stop worrying about day-to-day domestic problems such as feeding the family, buying the required medicines and giving proper education to the children and even long term requirements such as building a house and owning a vehicle.

He said that the NPP has a talented team which can win and then efficiently operate and rebuild the country.
