(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – The President’s Media Division (PMD) Thursday warned the fraudsters, who in the guise of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s close associates exploiting people promising jobs and other perks.
In a statement, the PMD said reports have been received with evidence that some fraudulent individuals and groups claiming that they have close ties with President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa are trying to deceive the masses and take advantage of them.
The fraudsters have claimed that they can help getting them employment, various positions, appointments, tenders, etc. There have been instances when some of these people have even claimed that they have the ability to influence the President.
“The President’s unwavering policy is following standard procedures at all times. No one can influence the President to get appointments, tenders etc. outside the procedures,” the statement said.
Therefore, the Presidential Secretariat advises the public not to be fooled by such fraudsters. Strict legal action will be taken against those who use the President’s name to swindle the public, the PMD statement said.
