(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today inspected the National Solid Waste Management Project implemented in the compost yard of the Hambantota Municipal Council.
This project that can convert 50 tonnes of solid waste into compost per day was started with the support of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as a solution to the waste problem in Hambantota city.
The President inspected the work of the project and instructed the relevant officials and the contracting companies to expedite the construction and commence operations within a month.
The President has joined the observation tour unexpectedly and Hambantota district MPs Namal Rajapaksa and DV Chanaka and several others accompanied the President.
