(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Four persons arrested for assaulting and obstructing the duties of a group of Police Special Task Force (STF) officers have been remanded.
The Ampara Magistrate’s Court remanded the four suspects until 21st January when they were produced in the court today.
The group of STF officers were assaulted when they returning in a three-wheeler and a tractor from Lathugala forest reserve in Uhana.
They were reportedly intercepted by the suspects who also arrived in a three-wheeler. Police said an STF officer has sustained minor injuries in the attack.
The Uhana Police launched an investigation into the incident and arrested four suspects along with their three-wheeler.
Further investigations are being carried out by Uhana Police.
