(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Three persons have died after falling into an abandoned mine at Maligawa Road in Seethawaka, in Avissawella.
The Police said the three individuals had fallen into the abandoned mine around 7:45 last night when they were attempting to rescue two chickens that had fallen into the mine.
The three youth were later found unconscious and in critical condition after falling into the mine.
All three of them had died after they were admitted to the Avissawella Hospital.
The deceased youths aged 17, 27 and 25 were residents of Avissawella.
The bodies have been placed at the Avissawella Hospital for the postmortem examination.
Avissawella Hospital is conducting further investigations.
