(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Sri Lankan President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has issued an order banning the personal staff of the Prime Minister and other ministers including private secretaries and coordinating secretaries from interfering in government projects or other financial transactions, state media reported.
The President has ordered the immediate suspension of such interference and accordingly, Secretary to the President Dr. PB Jayasundera has issued a circular notifying all Secretaries of the Ministries of the President’s order.
Accordingly, the circular issued by the President’s Secretary on the advice of the President informs all Secretaries of the Ministries that only the Secretary to the Prime Minister, the Secretaries to the Ministries and the State Secretaries can issue letters or telephone messages on the government’s projects or financial transactions on behalf of the Prime Minister and Ministers.
President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has reportedly ordered the ministries to rectify any such incidents if it happened before.
