(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Schools are not likely to reopen on 11 May as the coronavirus situation is not completely under control.
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said that while the Government was looking at opening schools on 11 May for the second term, that may not be possible.
He said this while responding to some children in a question and answer session organised by UNICEF.
The Prime Minister also said that the children should not be concerned about the first term school examinations as that has been cancelled.
He said that once the second school term begins the second term examination will be conducted based on the syllabus already covered.
The Prime Minister requested the students to use this time to study for the second term examination.
He also said that the Advanced Level Examination might also be postponed or be held with questions based on the syllabus already covered.
