(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Chairman of the Self-Employed Professionals’ Three-Wheeler Association has been assaulted and killed last night, the police said.
According to the police, the Chairman of the Three-Wheeler Association Jayawardene Sunil Perera was assaulted by a group of employees of a private finance company after a dispute over a three-wheeler escalated.
A heated argument has erupted when employees of a private finance company in the Mirihana Police Division had come to inquire about a three wheeler.
The severely beaten 53-year-old victim, a resident of Kesbewa, has succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of Kalubowila Hospital.
Eight suspects have been arrested on suspicion over the killing, the police said.
Mirihana Police are conducting further investigations.
