(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –An Extraordinary Gazette notification has been issued preventing locally produced rice or paddy directly being used for the manufacture of animal feed or as an ingredient for animal feed.
The gazette notification was issued by the Maj. Gen. Shantha Dissanayake (Retd.), Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority.
“The Consumer Affairs Authority directs that no manufacturer, trader or distributor shall sell, expose or offer for sale, store, transport, distribute or buy or purchase any locally produced rice or paddy directly for the manufacture of animal feed or otherwise as an ingredient for the manufacture of animal feed,” the Gazette notification said.
The Direction shall come into effect from 23rd July, 2020.
