(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Former Presidential Chief of Staff Gamini S.Senarath has been re-appointed Secretary to the Prime Minister.
He received his Letter of Appointment from President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat today, the President’s Media Unit said.
Gamini Senarath was initially appointed as the Secretary to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa following the Presidential elections in November 2019.
Senarath received his primary education from Richmond College, Galle and continued higher education from the University of Kelaniya where he received a BA(Hons.) Degree.
Thereafter, he successfully completed a Post Graduate Diploma from the University of Colombo.
Senarath joined the Sri Lanka Administrative Service in 1984 as an Assistant Government Agent.
Thereafter he served as the Assistant Controller and Deputy Controller of the Department of Immigration & Emigration, Senior Asst. Secretary, Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, Commissioner General of Motor Traffic, Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister, and Additional Secretary to the President and became the Chief of Staff to the President in 2009.
In addition to the above posts, he was serving in many other senior managerial positions in government institutions.
Gamini Senarath was former Chairman, People’s Bank and Former Chairman, Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation. He also served in the positions of Chairman, Litro Gas Lanka Limited, Chairman, Litro Gas Terminal Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd., Chairman, Sri Lanka Insurance Resorts & Spas (Pvt.) Ltd.
He has undergone a vast number of special foreign trainings in a variety of fields of Administration, Leadership and Management thereby gaining an excellent foreign exposure in the related subjects.
Senerath excels in the social service activities too.
