Legal action under the Quarantine Act against COVID-19 infected avoiding medical treatment

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi has stated that it is an offense under the Quarantine Act for COVID-19 infected to refrain from seeking medical treatment and that legal action will be taken against those who do so.

With the large number of cases of COVID-19 infected being reported from Gampaha District, the Ministry of Health is conducting PCR tests to identify patients in the Gampaha District.

The Ministry of Health has taken steps to provide ambulance services to the homes of those who are diagnosed with the disease, according to a statement issued by the Minister.

However, it has been reported that some patients refuse to go to treatment centers.

The Minister requested the COVID-19 infected patients to take steps to go to the treatment centers in the ambulances provided by the Ministry of Health considering the health safety of the Sri Lankan people.
