(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The General Manager of the Railways Dilantha Fernando said today (09) that arrangements will be made to add several special sanitized compartments to ordinary trains running on the main routes to transport students sitting for the Grade 5 Scholarship and GCE Advance Level examinations.
Accordingly, the trains will be made to stop at the stations between Gampaha and Veyangoda where curfew is in place.
The General Manager said that in areas where curfew is in place, a train security guard and police personnel will be deployed to prevent other passengers boarding the specialized compartments and for the safety of children traveling in special compartments.
He further said that the final discussion will be held at the Examinations Department today and discussions have been held with the Western DIG Deshabandu Tennakoon regarding the train being stopped at the railway stations where the curfew is in place and the children being taken on the train.
