(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Following a discussion at the Prime Minister’s Office chaired by Basil Rajapaksa, Chairman of the National Task Force on Economic Revival and Poverty Alleviation, on the instructions of the President and the Prime Minister It has been decided to implement a program to provide free food package worth Rs. 10,000 to quarantined families.
The food bag is priced at Rs 5,000 and will be distributed on two occasions.
Accordingly, the distribution of this food package which is worth Rs. 10,000 and sufficient for 14 day for the families who are currently under quarantine, is being carried out with the mediation of the District Secretary / Government Agent.
Arrangements have been made to distribute bags containing the fruits and dry rations to 6025 quarantined families in 13 Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Colombo District.
This program has been implemented in the Homagama, Dehiwala, Moratuwa and Kaduwela Divisional Secretariats by now, said the Colombo District Secretary/Government Agent Pradeep Yasaratne.
The Gampaha Divisional Secretary/Government Agent Sunil Jayalath said that arrangements are being made to distribute these bags containing fruits and dry food items to 6807 families who have been quarantined in 13 Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Gampaha District.
Kalutara District Secretary/Government Agent Prasanna Ginige says that the necessary arrangements have been made to distribute packages of fruits and dry food items to 2,245 families who have been quarantined in 14 Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Kalutara District.
Kegalle District Secretary/Government Agent Mahinda S. Balasuriya said that 1,248 families in the Kegalle District have been quarantined and arrangements are being made to provide them with bags containing fruits and dried food worth Rs. 10,000.
Arrangements will be made to provide the Rs. 10,000 worth fruit and dry ration package to new families being quarantined after obtaining their information from the Divisional Secretariats, Government Information Department said.
