(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – The schools in the Western Province under the new normal of COVID-19 commenced today (25) for the students who will sit for the GCE Ordinary Level Examination in March and a positive student attendance has been reported in all Education Zone, the Ministry of Education announced.
Out of all the education zones, the attendance of school children in the Matugama education zone was reported to be 65.5% today.
All schools are being conducted in compliance with health recommendations, and the co-operation of all parties, including parents, is vital to the success of this initiative to cover the missed subjects for students appearing for the GCE Ordinary Level Examination, the Ministry emphasized.
According to reports received today regarding the attendance of students, the Ministry of Education hopes that the attendance of students will gradually improve in all education zones.

2. Homagama – 51.72%
3. Piliyandala – 40.81%
4. Sri Jayewardenepura – 36.81%
5. Gampaha – 42.12%
6. Negombo – 52.43%
7. Kelaniya – 49.46%
8. Minuwangoda – 56%
9. Matugama – 65.08%
10. Horana – 29.00%
11. Kalutara – 61.49%
