(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – It is reported that the revenue of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) has dropped by around Rs. 40 million per day.
The average daily income of the Sri Lanka Transport Board, which used to be around Rs. 80 million a day, has now dropped to Rs. 45 million a day, according to a state media report.
Revenue has been drastically reduced as all long-distance buses carry passengers only for the number of seats.
Also passenger transport on other buses has also been severely reduced due to the reduction in public travel.
When inquired about this from the Minister of Transport Gamini Lokuge, he has said that there is a decrease in the number of buses due to the shortage of drivers and conductors and the revenue has decreased due to the decrease in the number of passengers in addition to the decrease in the number of buses.
