Sri Lanka reports three COVID-19 deaths Wednesday, toll rises to 537

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Sri Lanka confirmed three deaths on Wednesday due to COVID -19 raising the death toll from the viral disease to 537, according to health authorities.

The Director General of Health Services confirmed the following deaths caused by COVID -19 virus infection and accordingly the total number of deaths due to COVID -19 infection in Sri Lanka is 537 by now.

01. The deceased is a 72 year old male resident of Medirigiriya. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while undergoing treatments at a private hospital in Kandy and transferred to the Theldeniya Base Hospital where he died on March 16. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia, heart disease and high blood pressure.

02. The deceased is a 72 year old female resident from Polgasowita. She was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while undergoing treatments at Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital and transferred to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases where she died on March 17. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and liver failure.

03. The deceased is a 70 year old male resident of Andigama. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while undergoing treatments at Chilaw District Hospital and transferred to the Homagama Base Hospital where he died on March 16. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia, liver failure and kidney disease.
