No idea to lock down the whole country – Army Commander

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Head of the National Operations Center for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) and Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said there is no intention to lock down the whole country yet.

Army Commander General Shavendra Silva stated that if there is an increase in the number of infected people due to the nature of the coronavirus, police divisions or Grama Niladhari divisions will be isolated without prior notice in accordance with health advice.

The Army Commander said that steps have been taken to increase the capacity of hospitals as the number of COVID-19 infections reported in the country is increasing rapidly.

The Army Commander further stressed that the public should not be deceived by false propaganda.
