Sri Lanka PM inquires about the health of the former President of the Maldives

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today inquired about the condition of former Maldivian President and current Speaker Mohamed Nasheed.

Mr. Nasheed is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit at ADk Hospital in Malé after being seriously injured in a bomb attack which was carried out on 06 May.

The Prime Minister’s Office said the Premier had made a telephone call to Mohamed Nasheed’s father, Abdul Sattar yesterday (11), to inquire about the former President’s health condition.

The Prime Minister wished Mr. Nasheed a speedy recovery and requested that he be informed if Mr. Nasheed requires any help in his recovery.

During Mahinda Rajapaksa’s presidency, Mohamed Nasheed was the President of the Maldives. He is regarded as a Head of State who was committed to enhancing the friendship between Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
