(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Covid Vaccination Program will be launched today (27) in selected areas in the Galle and Matara districts, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said.
The vaccination program will be conducted on the recommendations of the Epidemiology Unit.
The Army Commander said that the vaccination program was launched in the Kurunegala District yesterday (26) evening.
President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has instructed to expedite the vaccination program in the relevant districts.
The Army Commander said that Army teams and medical officers will assist in the vaccination.
Sri Lanka Wednesday received 500,000 doses of Sinopharm Covid vaccine, a gift from the Chinese government at the special request of the President. Accordingly, the vaccine will be given to the public as soon as possible, General Shavendra Silva said.
