(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Minister of Health Pavithradevi Wanniarachchi said steps will be taken to issue a new set of guidelines required to call pregnant mothers to work.
The Minister made this observation while making a special statement in Parliament Yesterday (05).
The Minister pointed out that there has been an increase in the number of Covid patients reported last week and the number of patients reported daily has increased to around 2000 as compared to the previous weeks.
The Minister said that the government’s goal is to give at least one dose of vaccine to every person over the age of 30 next month, adding that medical experts are of the opinion that the vaccines used in Sri Lanka are showing success against all Covid strains.
Minister Wanniarachchi said the government has a responsibility to bring economic stability to the country and to improve the lives of the people and relaxing restrictions did not mean that the rules of Covid control had been relaxed.
While people are being constantly monitored for following health measures such as properly wearing face masks, maintaining physical distance and breathing etiquette, cleaning hands, the Minister of Health urged the people to continue to observe these practices as responsible citizens to control the spread of the Covid.
