(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Another consignment of Russian-made Sputnik V Covid vaccine purchased by Sri Lanka was brought to the island this morning (31).
A batch of 15,000 doses of the vaccine was flown to the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) by an Emirates cargo plane from Dubai early this morning. The consignment was transported from Moscow, Russia to Dubai, and from there to BIA.
Steps have been taken to transport the vaccine to the Colombo Central Vaccine Storage Complex by refrigerated trucks of the Sri Lanka Pharmaceutical Corporation.
The government has ordered 1.3 million doses of Sputnik V vaccine and the first batch of 15,000 doses arrived in Sri Lanka on May 04.
