(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – With the aim of further expanding Sri Lanka’s state owned large scale retail network Lanka Sathosa island wide, on the instructions and guidance of the Minister of Trade, Dr. Bandula Gunawardena, the hitherto needed Sathosa outlet in Batticaloa was opened to the public yesterday(09).
Accordingly, the Sathosa outlet in Batticaloa was opened by the Batticaloa District Parliamentarian Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, Batticaloa District Secretary and Sathosa Chairman.
Steps have been taken to open this CWE outlet in Batticaloa, according to the program being carried out by the Minister of Trade Dr. Bandula Gunawardena to set up Sathosa outlets in a manner that is easily accessible to the public with the aim of providing high quality products to the consumers at reasonable prices with the intervention of the government during the current emergency situation in the country.
In addition, the outlet premises were set up as a wholesale outlet for wholesale traders in the area.
Accordingly, the Sathosa outlet and wholesale center, opened today, will be able to deliver cheaper and higher quality products to consumers through other outlets in the area as goods will be issued at lower prices with the intervention of the government.
Also, with the opening of this new CWE outlet and wholesale exchange center, the people of the area were seen gathering in large numbers to buy goods.
Due to the public gathering, the security forces intervened and directed the people to the shop in accordance with the healthcare procedures.
