(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Roshan Ranasinghe, State Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government Affairs has decided to provide funds to the crematoriums of the Ministry of Local Government in carrying out the cremation of the people who died due to Covid-19.
This decision was taken at a special discussion held recently at State Ministry on the progress review of the Ministry of State for Provincial Councils and Local Government
Accordingly, in the first phase, a sum of Rs. 1,2085,000 has been provided to 69 Local Government councils, Rs. 5000 per death for the 2417 coronavirus deaths up to 31 August,
The money has been provided for 488 deaths in Sabaragamuwa Province, 391 in Northwestern Province, 260 in Central Province, 171 in Uva Province, 537 in Southern Province, 100 in North Central Province, 199 in Western Province and 71 deaths in the Eastern Province.
The Minister has instructed the State Ministry Secretary Bandula Boralessa to immediately provide the funds for the cremation of Covid deaths at any time when needed without delay.
