(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Another consignment of the U.S. manufactured Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine purchased by the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) has arrived in Sri Lanka early Monday.
This consignment of 608,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine was flown to Bandaranaike International Airport on a Qatar Airways cargo flight QR-668 arrived at around 2:30 am Monday.
Steps have been taken to transport the vaccine doses to the cold storage at the Blood Transfusion Center in Narahenpita by refrigerated trucks of the Sri Lanka Pharmaceuticals Corporation.
The State Pharmaceuticals Corporation stated that out of the 5 million doses of Pfizer vaccine purchased by Sri Lanka, 1 million had been received earlier and the first batch of the remaining 4 million vaccines was received today.
