(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – The Auditor General’s Report for the year 2020 was presented to the Hon. Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena by the Auditor General Mr. W.P.C. Wickramaratne on the 28th at the Speaker’s Office.
Secretary General of Parliament Mr. Dhammika Dasanayake and officials of the National Audit Office were also present at the occasion.
Parliament has full control over public finances in terms of Article 148 of the Constitution. The Audit Report for the year 2020 was presented in accordance with the role assigned to the Auditor General by Article 154 of the Constitution to carry out those functions more effectively.
Accordingly, audits of Ministries and Departments, Public Corporations, Authorities, Boards and Statutory Funds, Provincial Councils, Local Government Institutions, Foreign Aid Projects and other Institutions are presented to Parliament under nine categories.
