(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Sri Lanka’s universities will not open for academic activities on the 27th of this month as planned earlier due to the prevailing COVID pandemic situation, the Minister of Education, Prof. G. L. Peiris has announced in the parliament.
Resumption of academic activities at all universities, which was earlier scheduled for April 27, will be postponed by another two weeks, the Minister has informed the parliament.
The Minister said that all the universities were scheduled to be reopened on April 27 and that this step was taken on the instructions of the Director General of Health Services in view of the prevailing Covid-19 situation.
Earlier this week, Prof. Peiris announced that Universities all over the island will be reopened on the 27th of this month while strictly adhering to all health recommendations.
