(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –Sri Lanka’s Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa sought ways and means of further enhancing economic cooperation with India, when he met the Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister of India Nirmala Sitharaman Wednesday in New Delhi.
During their meeting, the Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister of India and the Sri Lankan Minister of Finance discussed a range of issues pertaining to bilateral economic cooperation.
Basil Rajapaksa appreciated the support that India has provided to Sri Lanka in many different spheres through its economic cooperation programs.
They discussed ways and means by which the existing bilateral economic cooperation programs between the two countries could be further developed and enhanced.
Basil Rajapaksa, who is on a two-day official visit to India is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior ministers of the Indian government.
S R Attygalle, Secretary to the Treasury and Ministry of Finance, Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to India, Milinda Moragoda and other officials also were present at the discussion
