(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –State Minister of Transport Dilum Amunugama says that the minimum bus fare will be increased by 17 with effect from January 05, 2022.
The decision to increase the bus fares was taken following discussions between State Minister of Transport Dilum Amunugama, officials of the Ministry of Transport and the National Transport Commission (NTC) and representatives of private bus owners’ associations at the State Ministry of Transport today.
Accordingly, the minimum fare for travel in state-run Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) and private buses will be increased by Rs. 03 from Rs. 14 to Rs. 17 from next Wednesday, State Minister Dilum Amunugama told the media after the discussion.
Minister Amunugama said the National Transport Commission has received the revised bus fares for each section and category formulated based on a pricing formula and the NTC will prepare the new fare list for each route and publish in the next few days.
