(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio has highlighted the plight of elephants in Sri Lanka due to plastic waste in an open landfill in the Eastern part of the country.
The Oscar-winning actor tweeted a news report by the Associated Press, which claimed that two more elephants were found dead over the weekend after consuming plastic trash in the dump in Pallakkadu village in Ampara district.
Conservationists and veterinarians have warned that plastic waste in the open landfill in Eastern Sri Lanka is killing elephants in the region.
