(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – First round of formal talks to establish a collaboration with Turkish Aircraft Industries Corporation (TAI) was held on 14th February 2022 online, with the participation of the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Turkey, His Excellency Mohamed RizviHassen. The aim of the meeting was to explore the possibility of cooperating in the field of Aeronautical Engineering.
Turkish Aerospace Industries is the Turkey’s center of technology in design, development, modernization, manufacturing, integration and life cycle support of integrated aerospace systems, from fixed and rotary wing air platforms to UAVs and satellites. The company offers products and services in the areas of aerostructures, aircraft, helicopter, UAV systems, and space systems, as well as programs and logistics solutions.
The meeting was organized by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Turkey in collaboration with KDU and TAI on the directive of the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, General Kamal Gunaratne, during his tour to Turkey.
Major General Milinda Peiris, Vice Chancellor of KDU, presided over the meeting from KDU, while Prof AhmetPinarbasi, Academic President of TAI, chaired the meeting from TAI.
Along with ProfPinarbasi, the Marketing Director of Asia Region- Mr. Izzet Aslan, Academia Manager- Mr. Emre Yilmaz, Engineering Education President- Mr. Serhat Gul, Chief for Vocational Education- Mr. Berat Emre Ileri, Vocational Education Expert- Ms. HumeyraYolcu represented TAI, wWhile the Dean of Research and Development, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, the Director of the International Relations Office, the Head of the Department of Aeronautical Engineering, and Senior Lecturers from the Department of Aeronautical Engineering attended the meeting from KDU.
