(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa made a brief visit to the Parliament on Thursday (7) morning.
The proceedings of Parliament commenced at 10 am today (07) and the President entered the Chamber at around 10.15 am. He was welcomed by the government parliamentarians in the House.
Debate on the current situation in the country was being held for a second day in Parliament when the President arrived.
Commencing the proceedings of Parliament this morning, the Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena stated that despite the debate was being held throughout the day yesterday, so far no successful or positive views have been received on the crisis.
He also said that it was unfortunate that all members of the House were behaving as usual.
The Speaker asked the members of parliament to keep in mind those points today and come up with a suitable program that could be agreed upon by all at the end of the debate.
