(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –Sri Lanka state fuel distributor, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (Ceypetco) has taken steps to increase fuel prices from 3.00 am Tuesday, May 24, 2022.
Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said fuel pricing formula that was approved by the cabinet was applied to revise the prices. The formula will be applied every fortnight or monthly.
Price revision includes all costs incurred in importing, unloading, distribution to the stations and taxes. Profits not calculated and included.
Accordingly, the price of Octane 92 petrol has been increased by Rs. 82 per liter and price of Octane 95 petrol has been increased by Rs. 77 per liter.
The price of Auto Diesel has been increased by Rs. 111 per liter and Super Diesel by Rs. 116.
Accordingly, the new Ceypetco fuel prices (per liter) are as follows:
Petrol Octane 92 – Rs. 420.00
Petrol Octane 95 – Rs. 450.00
Auto Diesel – Rs. 400.00
Super Diesel – Rs. 445.00
Meanwhile, Lanka IOC also has raised fuel prices in line with Ceypetco.
In line with the increase of fuel prices, Cabinet has also approved the revision of transportation including bus fares and other service charges accordingly, Minister Wijesekera said.
The Minister requested the Transport sector to discuss the revision of rates and not to disrupt transportation for the candidates sitting GCE O/L examination.
The Minister further said the public sector workforce will be called to work on the direction of the head of the institute from today. Work from home will be encouraged to minimize the use of fuel and to manage the energy crisis.
