(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe has been re-appointed as the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa for another six years, according to the President’s Media Division.
Accordingly, his tenure of 06 years will be effective from July 04, 2022.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, had submitted his recommendation to the President yesterday to extend the term of Dr. Weerasinghe for a new term.
Dr. Weerasinghe was appointed to the post on 07 April 2022 to serve the remainder of the term of the Governor of the Central Bank following the resignation of Ajith Nivard Cabraal. His term of office was due to end today, June 30.
