India’s Adani Green Energy given provisional approval for two wind power projects

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera says that Adani Green Energy has been given provisional approvals for two wind power projects.

Minister Wijesekera said the Adani Green Energy was issued provisional approvals for two wind power projects of 286MW in Mannar and 234MW in Pooneryn for an investment of over USD 500 million.

The decision was reached when Minister of Power and Energy met with the officials of Ceylon Electricity Board and Sustainable Development Authority on Tuesday to discuss the progress of renewable energy projects yesterday.

Minister Wijesekera added that PP agreements will be signed next week, pertaining to 21 of the 46 projects that were delayed due to the CEB Act amendments.

While 26 Renewable proposals from expression of interests that was given Provisional Approvals will be expedited with Grid clearance and transmission plans, other proposals will be evaluated within 30 days, according to the Minister of Power and Energy.
