President sees no need to extend the state of emergency

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –President Ranil Wickramasinghe has stated that there is no need to extend the state of emergency as the country is currently at a stable level.

The State of Emergency was imposed for a month with effect from the 18th of July following the violent incidents by the anti-government protesters.

President Wickremesinghe said the country’s situation is retuning back to normal and he will not extend emergency regulations which are scheduled to lapse on Thursday.

The President disclosed this while addressing the “Organization of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka – 2022” awards ceremony held at the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel in Colombo today (16).

Mr. Wickremesinghe further said that many measures are being taken for the rebuilding of the country and for that the support of all parties is needed.

In addition, the President also mentioned that the government has focused on establishing a Diaspora office in Sri Lanka in order to obtain the support of the Diaspora for Sri Lanka.
