(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – The Extraordinary Gazette notification increasing water tariff with effect from September 01, 2022 has been issued by the Minister of Water Supply and Drainage Keheliya Rambukwella.
The tariff revision was made in terms of section 84 of National Water Supply and Drainage Board law no: 02 of 1974.
The monthly water charge of any category includes usage charges and monthly service charge, other charges and applicable taxes, according to the gazette notification.
Water bill generally displays only the total monthly sewerage charge and if necessary consumer can request the water bill with separate VAT/SVAT Invoices with prior registration with the National Water Supply and Drainage Board.
Water tariff revision will be done under 12 categories of customers. Sewerage charge under Domestic tariff, Commercial tariff and Industrial tariff will be devised on the consumption of water of the relevant month, taking into consideration the utilization of all sources of water supply.
