(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – The president of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) Keerthi Gunawardane, and the board members Darshaka Rupasinghe, Ruwan de Sliva and the Acting Secretary General Tilan Wijesooriya met the Switzerland Ambassador, Dominik Furgler and the Kanishka Ratnapriya Political, Trade and Press Officer at the Switzerland Embassy, Colombo.
The Switzerland Ambassador in Sri Lanka has a wealth of experience working in many countries. He indicated to us many possibilities to improve business and business contacts with Switzerland. He shared some of his experiences in the past. He mentioned some of the large Swiss companies have a very long and strong presence in Sri Lanka. He indicated to us in the areas of Apparel, Agriculture and Fisheries are already in negations with the Export Development Board and FCCISL also to be a partner to that process.
FCCISL president and the members indicated the capacity we encompass with a large regional chamber base, national and product related chambers as our members.
FCCISL appreciated the discussion points with regards to apparel, agriculture and sea food which will support to a large amount of businesses as well a work force directly and indirectly involve in these sectors. We had a discussion to have a good future plan to attract Switzerland travelers to Sri Lanka which can be helpful for our immediate foreign currency crisis.
