(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Excise duty on all varieties of liquor, including wine and beer, will be increased by 20% from midnight today, the State Minister of Finance announced.
Meanwhile duty on cigarettes has also been increased by 20% with effect from January 1, 2023.
The State Minister of Finance said the tax increase has been done by the President Ranil Wickremesinghe through gazette notifications 2312/70 and 2312/68.
