(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Ten-year and annual teacher transfers in all national schools in the island according to the current recommendations, other than teachers subject to special appeals for the following reasons will be effective from 17 April 2023, the Ministry of Education announced Tuesday.
If there is any prejudice to the children due to transfer of teachers teaching in G.E.C. Advanced and Ordinary Levels, a special appeals committee will consider the appeals presented by the principals regarding such transfers.
All temporary attachments granted so far are extended up to 30th June 2023.
However, teachers who have been transferred before 30.06.2023 should act accordingly as soon as they receive the transfer letter.
Education Minister Susil Premajayantha making a special statement in Parliament today said the transfer letters of primary teachers will be mailed yesterday (21).
The Minister also said that if there are teacher transfers affecting the children’s education, they will be given the opportunity to submit appeals.
The Minister added that 8,893 teacher transfers have been approved for the past three years.
