(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa says that the Sinhala and Tamil New Year will help to improve social relations, maintain old customs and improve mutual trust between each other, in a message to mark the New Year.
For several years, the people of Sri Lanka have celebrated the New Year amid many challenges.
With the dawn of the New Year I wish for prosperity and good health for the country and the people.
“Our country, which used to have a self-sufficient economic pattern, has now become a country in distress. Even the opportunity to celebrate the New Year together with all the family members with happiness, peace and comfort has been lost since several years.
“I hope that this period of darkness will be over and that the entire citizens of our country will have the strength to rally with determination for a prosperous and bright future in the truest sense of the word,” Premadasa said.
