(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – The All Island Inter-District School Children’s Transportation Association has announced that as a relief to the parents of school children, despite all the hardships, it has been decided to reduce school transport fees by 5% to 8% from 1st of May.
Speaking to media in this regard, the chairman of the association Mr. Harishchandra Padmasiri said that there has been no reduction in the spare parts including tires and the income certificate fee is 650 rupees per seat in a bus and 9,000 rupees per van.
He said that if the government gives relief for this, steps can be taken to further reduce the school transport fees.
However, despite all these difficulties, the union has decided to provide this relief to the parents of school children.
He further said that despite what other associations say there was a time when diesel could not be found and now that diesel has been received and the price has decreased, this decision was taken to provide relief to the people who are getting the services as much as possible.
