(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –Showing a considerable growth, Sri Lanka’s tourism industry has managed to generate an income of US$ 198 million (Rs.63.3 billion) in the month of March, which is a growth of 22.8 percent compared to last year.
According to a latest report issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka’s income from tourism in March 2022 was US$ 161.2 million.
The Central Bank report shows that 106,500 foreign tourists have come to Sri Lanka in the month of March 2022 and showing a growth of 17.8 percent 125,495 people have come to the country in March this year.
Most foreign tourists have come from Russian Federation (20%), India (15%), United Kingdom (9%), Germany (8%) and France & United States (5%).
Continuing the upward trend in tourist arrivals, 105,498 foreign tourists have come to Sri Lanka in April this year alone, and accordingly, 441,177 foreign tourists have come to Sri Lanka in the first 4 months of this year.
The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority states that it is special that more than 100.000 tourists have come every month.
