USAID assists restructuring Sri Lanka’s energy sector

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has provided the necessary technical assistance for Sri Lanka’s power and energy sector restructuring program.

The USAID has made available its technical assistance for the restructuring of the energy sector and to develop the roadmap for the transition of Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) reforms, Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said in a Twitter message.

Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera Monday met with a USAID team including Mr. Arindam Ghosh, the assigned consultant who has come to Sri Lanka to develop the road map and assist in the reform process.

In relation to the restructuring of the Electricity Board, after the adoption of the new Act, the necessary road map for its future program will be prepared and the USAID will provide the necessary technical assistance in the next 8 weeks, the Minister said.

The Power and Energy Minister thanked the USAID for its assistance to restructure Sri Lanka’s power and energy sector.
