(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – The Sri Lanka Air Force and the Eagles’ Golf Links and Courses hosted the Eagles’ Quadrangle Cup, an inter-club golf tournament that was concluded today (20 May 2023) in the spectacular settings of China Bay, the closest to the harbour city of Trincomalee.
The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana graced the tournament as the Chief Guest. The tournament was powered by SLT Mobitel as the connectivity partner and People’s Bank as the banking partner which made it much more glamorous and memorable for the participants.
Eagles’ Golf Link, Royal Colombo Golf Club, Victoria Golf Resort and Nuwara Eliya Golf Club played for honours with each team consisting of 15 players inclusive of a minimum of two Ladies in each team. Top ten scores from each team had been considered for the final count. A notable highlight of this year’s tournament is the introduction of a brand-new “Island Green”, a first-ever feature in Sri Lankan golfing history. This addition is poised to heighten the allure for golfers, adding a unique element of challenge to the game. The Commander participated in the First Tee Off signifying the start of the tournament.
Air Force Eagles’ Golf Links team which was captained by Air Vice Marshal Udula Wijesinghe won the Eagles’ Quadrangle Cup trophy, securing the highest marks in the entire tournament. Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana and Mr. Michael Sathasivam received the awards for the Nearest to the Pin and the Longest Drive in the Gents’ Category while Ms. Fran de Mel and Mrs. Dinuka Borelassa took the honours for Nearest to the Pin and the Longest Drive in the Ladies’ Category. The award for the Best Overall Score in the Gents’ Category was secured by Mr. Ravi Liyanage and in the Ladies’ Category clinched by Ms. Pravina Dunuwila.
The awards of the Inter-Club Eagles’ Quadrangle Cup were given away at a festivity Awards Ceremony held at the same venue during the today afternoon. The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana graced the Awards Ceremony as the Chief Guest. Moreover, the Chief of Staff of the SLAF, Air Vice Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, General Manager Regional Business SLT Mobitel, Mr. M Pathmadasan and Deputy General Manager SLT Mobitel, Mr. Romesh John attended the ceremony.
All participants of the tournament departed with a load of fun-filled memories from second iteration of the Inter-Club Eagles’ Quadrangle Cup Golf Tournament.
