(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – A mother and daughter who returned from abroad have contracted monkeypox, health sources confirmed.
Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena said the two family members are currently being treated at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH).
It has been revealed that the father had also contracted monkeypox in another country and returned to Sri Lanka after being recovered.
The mother and daughter returned from Dubai were confirmed to be infected with the virus during the medical screenings carried out at the Katunayake Airport.
