(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Warakapola police said that three members of the same family were killed in an accident when a tipper truck and a three-wheeler collided head-on today (12) in the Thulhiriya area of the Colombo-Kurunegala main road.
The police say that the father, mother and son of the same family residing at Rambukkana, Kotwella have died in this accident.
Police identified the deceased as Dhanushka Gayan Pinnavala, Sinhasana Vadu Gamlathge Dinesha Srinani Gamlathge, Pinnavala Hewayala Geetma Thatsara Pinnavala.
The family was returning home from a funeral ceremony in Galle when the three-wheeler they were traveling veered into the path of an oncoming dump truck traveling towards Colombo in Thulhiriya area of Warakapola.
Police said the three-wheeler suddenly moving from the road towards the opposite lane and colliding with the sand-loaded tipper ruck was recorded on a CCTV camera installed in a nearby house.
Warakapola police have arrested the driver of the tipper and is conducting further investigations.
