(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Sabry has briefed the diplomatic corps based in Colombo Wednesday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on work being done by the Foreign Ministry and the government of Sri Lanka.
Minister Ali Sabry said presentations were made on a number of matters to the envoys in Colombo during the meeting.
Accordingly, diplomatic corps were briefed on the following:
1. Office of Missing Persons Sri Lanka, on the progress of resolving issues relating to missing persons including the recent positive developments in tracing.
2. The progress on setting up the proposed Office for Overseas Sri Lankans (OOSLA)
3. The planning and work completed on the proposed Truth Seeking Mechanism.
4. Progress and updates by the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation (ONUR)
5. The latest developments by the Presidential Secretariat on the National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security
The Foreign Minister said Heads of Missions commended the government on the impressive progress made during the last year in averting a serious crisis, and were positive about on the way forward.
